Music Unbound is devoted to a single theme: that commercial/professional
music is stuck in rigid concepts of style, genre and format, and needs to be
broken out of these arbitrary categories, in order for music as an art form to
flourish properly.
All that follows is intended to do a few things:
- Understand how and why this happened
- Understand the ramifications of this on music and the music business
- Consider what might be done to address this
- Collect info on where this is being addressed
- Support those whose music is obscure because of current commercial obstacles
- Perhaps begin to provide a forum for all of the above
We're not going to change the world overnight. But, if we can talk about the
problem and find ways to support each other in this common goal, we might plant
seeds for evolving in a better direction as we move into the future.
